steering shaft for cj

Can the steering shaft be separeted from the ujoint? Just wondering if someone has done it, haven't had time to try it myself. Reason is mine is worn quite bad and just got the borgeson catalog and you can buy new joints for 60 bucks. ken

the shaft was smooth.. kinda flat on 2 sides.. (the part in the middle of the shaft).. after you drill it out.. and take it apart.. put some grease on it for the install.. then it will slide up and down.. make putting your steering back together easier..
