Can I install plexiglass in a TJ hardtop?

I found a hardtop for a my TJ just minus all the glass. I'm not familar with one either. Does anyone think it would not be possible to cut plexiglass and install it in the TJ hardtop? I mean, it seems like none of the glass is curved (not much if any), and I'm itching for a hardtop for the winter. The top is cheap, and no too far from me. A very good deal. Any opinions? Can anyone help me out with some TJ glass? Any help suggestions is appreicated. Thanks

I'd go with lexan instead. It cost more, but is more durable from what I've seen.Either one will scratch easy though, so be aware of that.I think the lexan is less prone to cracking too..

Plexiglass in the hard top is IMHO not a good idea. It's not DOT apporved for glass replacement becasue it's prone to makeing shards during accidents. This shards hurt, a lot, when going through flesh... sick with OEM or aftermarked safety glass and live to Jeep again if you every have an accident.

DO NOT use plexiglass or lexan. If you get into an accident they will create shards, which will act just like regular glass.

If you have the weatherstripping, check with a local glass shop. They can often cut the glass right there, and since it is flat, it'd be fairly cheap. I went to a glass house for my windshield, and it cost me $35 for them to cut a new one out of a sheet, and it was DOT approved. I wouldn't mess around with the plexiglass, IMHO.

The YJ hardtop has 2 holes drilled in the glass. I can't find any glass companies that will cut the glass and drill the holes. Any help?
