Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

I can't seem to find any 3/8" lift Con-Ferr shackles for my CJ-7! Quadratrac has them in their catalog but they are on a 3 week backorder. My frame should be here this week and Id like to start putting it together before it starts getting TOO cold.
If anyone has a catalog with Con-Ferr shackles in it please let me know (along with a phone# or web address). Thanks!

Re: Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

I don't know about shackles, but the dreaded 4 wheel parts wholesalers carries Con Fer stuff. If all else fails give them a try. www.4wheelparts.com 1-800-421-1050

Re: Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

Why not make your own? Go to a machine shop, give them the length and tell them to use 3/8" steel. Have them punch 3 holes, and use grade 8 bolts. It'd be a lot cheaper and probably stronger. It'd also take them about 15 minutes with a shear and a punch.

You could also check with Brad Kilby at http://onboardair.com. He carries con-ferr stuff.

Re: Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

I bought mine about 10 years ago, bought them directly from Con-Ferr.

Re: Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

WELL!
I had the SAME EXACT problems you did in May, I called EVERYONE - even Con-ferr most everyone was out of stock. Except Capitol Jeep Supply out of California. I had asked Con-ferr when I called them who stock the most & thats what they said & they did have them & ship them to be the same day. Good luck.

Re: Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

Don't be surprised if even Conn-ferr is out of stock, they were out of them in the spring when I tried to buy my 3/8".

Re: Who stocks Con-Ferr shackles?

WOW, thanks for all the input guys! I did call Con-Ferr and the only ones they had were way too tall. 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers scare me to death, and I'm waiting for responses from two others.
I think I'm going to take Jeepn's advise and whip a set out on the laser. I wanted to go with the store bought ones 'cause they have the welded brace in the center ( I know, I know I need a welder). But I think making my own for free, then driving the Jeep for a while to let the springs settle, then finding out what I really need to balance the height is a better idea. Thanks again! On a construction note...Will 1/4" mild steel be thick enough? I know the stock ones are a sheet metal stamping, but this will just be a flat piece of steel with no support rib stamped into it. We don't have any 3/8" around the shop, and the 1/4" is FREE. BTW, they are only going to be a 1/2" lift (4" center to center) with a tube bolted in the center for support.
