Dual exhaust on a YJ???

I plan in the future on doing a V8 conversion in my YJ, for now the 4.0L will do. Anyway I was sizing it up the other day and it doesn't seem possible to have a dual exhaust on a YJ due to the position of the gas tank, too close on the drivers side to the spring. I've heard of people with dual exhaust on YJ's and was wondering how they did it. Any Info??

Re: Dual exhaust on a YJ???

I have a 350 in my YJ. I ran the exhaust out the back and angled it towards the rear shackle, but stopped it before the shackle with a turn down. I'll try to get a pic of it and attach it.

Re: Dual exhaust on a YJ???

Mine are 2.5" and they come out the sides right behind the rear tires. The mufflers hang from the stock hanger on the right and a second stock hanger from a wrecking yard on the left. The holes are in the tub for the hanger to bolt to. Just gotta get the hanger and bolt it on. The tailpipes sneak thru the spring, right below the frame and in front of the shackle.

I like them coming out the side better than out the back because I don't smell the exhaust like I did with the stock setup.
