Re: how heavy (lbs.) are sm465, np435

It's been stated in the past:

SM465 means "Strong and Massive" and the 465 is its weight in pounds.

NP435 means "Narrow and Powerful" and its weight is 435 pounds, slightly lighter due to it's aluminum top cover.

But seriously, the NP435 I have heard, is about 140 pounds or so, and the SM465 is in the neighborhood of 210 pounds. When I swapped in the SM465, I unbolted the old SR-4/D300 and lifted it out without any problems. I couldn't lift the SM465 (with no oil) by itself up, never mind with the NP205 attached. I have a few older manuals at home, I'll try to remember to look them up tonight.

I just had an NP435 shipped UPS (don't ask) and it weighed in at 125 lbs, more or less dry.

(OK, well the np435 is in the garage next to the Jeep)

Re: how heavy (lbs.) are sm465, np435

When I left to go out west I had a couple of sm465 and np205 combos to deliver so just for the heck of it I went to my local landfill and scaled my truck empty and went back with the sm465 and np205. Transmission, transfer case and bellhousing weighed in at 360lbs.

A NV4500 wieghs 195 pounds. I doubt a NP435 wieghs 435 pounds, must be a typo. 150 pounds, maybe.

Thanks, Ray

I finally found a NP435 all encrusted with dirt and mud and I do not believe it could weigh 150 because I would have dropped it on my lower ten digits if it did, along with my you know whats .I lifted it up out of a trunk and put it on the ground. I don't think it could weigh more than 100 # unless I got stronger from pushing my jeep around
