Re: Wag 44 into CJ pics

Thanks, I couldn't figure out why he needed the square 'U' bolt. The second picture makes that clear.

Re: Wag 44 into CJ pics

you really don't need a square u-bolt. i just rounded it out with a grinder so i could use the stock scout u-bolts on mine.

Re: Wag 44 into CJ pics

I did the same as high5, just ran the grinder up into the slot and rounded it off. Then I used the Grand Waggy spring backing plates, worked like a charm. Just had to have 3 U bolts made at 3 1/2" and one of the U bolts made to a 4 1/2" radius if I remember right.

Re: Wag 44 into CJ pics

well since I over paid ( free) for my set of axles, and they didnt come with U bolts, I made due with what I had laying around!

the locally custom drawn bolt square is actually stronger ( well I can bend it LESS by hand) than the store bought and it was the same cost, right around $8.

its a learning process, I appreciate the input!
the last guy to do this and read all of these ideas/techniques will have it made!

Re: Wag 44 into CJ pics

Yeah, your chosen method is as good as the next. I was just bored so I thought Id throw it my $0.02.
Nice looking axle by the way.

Re: Wag 44 into CJ pics

Ozarkjeep
How wide is the axel, as it is in the picture, (stripped down) from widest point to widest point? Is a '75 Wag a bigger (wider) vehicle than a '74 Cherokee (not a wide track Cherokee, no stock wheel well flares)????
Thanks a bunch
