Frame body mount question?

Well, I ran into problem 2 on my body replacement. My frames is in decent shape but the body mounts on the frame are a little to rusty. I think the mount itself is probalby fine but the holes are really rusty and a lot larger in diameter than they are supposed to be....I think. Does anyone know the correct diameter for the mount holes? Or does anyone know were I can purchase knew body mounts for the frame. If not I guess I can have some made. The more I look the more I find I want to replace.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Frame body mount question?

pull one of the rubber mounts out or get a new set and measure the diameter on them. i have seen frmes rusted like that before and all you need to do is get some flat steel an cut a hole in it the correct diameter and weld it on top of the exsisting mount.

Re: Frame body mount question?

I've seen that done a few times as well and patched 2 of mine that way (I completely replaced the others with some custom made mounts). The hole is 1 1/4" diameter...easily drilled with a hole saw.

Re: Frame body mount question?

If its ONLY the hole that is thin , then locate some BIG washers and weld them , on top and bottom . You can get them at spring shops or some good automotive shops too .The frames from 76-79 and 80-86 were different diameter holes.
1 5/16 for the later and 1 1/4 for the early ones( the very first set(by firewall) of tub mounts(early) are 1 " dia.) . I have both and just measured them .
