AC-FAN belt getting eatin\'

Hey.. I've got an 89YJ 4cyl w/AC.. I've had to replace my AC-Fan belt about once evey 1-2months.. every time I use my AC, it'll squeal (even after the car has been running for a while) and eat up the teeth off the belt... I'm thinking it might be the AC clutch (if there is such a thing).. any ideas, or how much it would cost to fix?.. thanks!

Re: AC-FAN belt getting eatin\'

Here's what I'd do. First of all, when you turn on the ac, squealing and all, is it blowing cold air? Take the belt off, does the ac turn ok, no grinding. If so, then jump the switch to the clutch to engage it without the engine on, now that it is engaged, can you still turn it. One other thing, is the belt alignment correct, that is are the pulleys even, not one slightly behind the other. Knowing nearly nothing about ac, I've done the above in the past on a GM car to try to figure out what is wrong, I assume it would work on your Jeep.
