Will big tires rob power

If I put 32's on my YJ will it be robbed of enough power to need a gear ratio change?

No, just drive it in 4th gear unless you're on the highway. Just because you have a 5th, doesn't mean you need to use it. If you can, great, but they will sap power, and it will be noticeable. Only you can determine if a gear swap is needed.

Re: Will big tires rob power

Hey guys...
Us guys over at the Bronco, Late site are having a debate over how the size of a tires will soak up horsepower/torque. We have some conflicting views, and unfortunately there aren't enough people on that particular board to participate in this discussion, so I would like to invite you guys over to discuss it with us.
the thread is Gearing with 460 and 39.5 Boggers...
This should be a great discussion....esp since is has nothing to do with truck brands.

Re: Will big tires rob power

You dont have to change gear ratio, but about lose of power, with dozens of tires, gear changes I can tell you, definately makes a difference in the power you will have going to bigger tires. bigger tires= less geddiup and go...

hows that equate, make sense
