Rotten Shop to Avoid

I know it is probably wrong to bad mouth anybody... but in this case , I needed to shorten a rear driveshaft, for my Cj3b, took it to a local shop , told him was for my Rubicon rig , he shortened it , charged me $165 , I twisted it 3 weeks later, he used thin wall tubing (.080 thick), took it back , he installed thick walled tubing (.120 thick), charged me $145 this time , no apologies, I twisted this one in less than 600 miles, ...I'm not running anything extreme , just a V6 and Sm420 , I took the mess to a highly regarded machinest , he found that one of the splines had been machined off, and that driveshaft was welded 8 degrees out of time , I asked how he could tell that...he said by lining up the SEAMS in the MUFFLER TUBING that was used , you could measure it. I will gladly tell anybody that wants to hear , to avoid ADCO DRIVELINES in Placerville , Ca. ....I would go back in there to complain , but I'm afraid I would punch his lights out. Thanx for letting me vent.

You got screwed. Paid $70 to get mine done, but then again it was a friend's shop.

Definitely screwed. Mine was $50. Of course, we're talking about a good ol' boy in south Louisiana. He asked that I make the check out to "cash".

Screwed??? The first driveline was a screwing , the second one was a straight RAPE!! I've always tried to buy local , but the way I see it , I spent $310 for junk... with a so-called professional. I just think the rest of this community needs to know about these kinds of shops. Thanx again

Re: Rotten Shop to Avoid

My question is why did he change the tubing to shorten it? If the existing tube was in good shape all he had to do was remove one end, cut it down, and re-attach the end. You shouldn't of had to pay for new tubing!

Re: Rotten Shop to Avoid

I hate to say it guys, but your prices are dirt cheap compared to around me. The closest place to have a "professional" one made is in Dayton(Oh). This is 20 mi from me and it's the same price for anyone that I've ever talked to. $$$$250$$$
I've always done my own ,but no balancing.
The work was WAY sorry, but your prices are cheap compared to around me.

Just waiting for the surgeon general to ban Jeeps for being too addictive
