Front Axle Is In. Pics and Thanks

Hey Guys,

After all of this worrying the front axle went in like butter and fit like a
glove (with a tad of grinding). All of the worrying was due to some dumb
little measurement that the U-bolt place took and it never clicked in my
head (too embarresed to admit what). Thanks to Rick B for pointing this out
Saturday and making me fell much better. Regardless, because they botched
this measurement (i should of caught it anyway) they lost out on my biz and
i ending up finding the u-bolts at pep boys that were almost the right size
(with a little bending) for about 1/3 the $$ they wanted.

The axle was almost a direct bolt in and the hardest part of all was making
the spring plates and bending the ubolts.

Pics and a tiny write-up can be seen at:

Big thanks to Mike, Mark, The NEJeep list, the BBS, and everyone else who gave their
.02.

Its ready to come home now. Yahoo!!!

Looks great Mangler,
I think your gonna love the SOA, they make for a great suspension sytem.
Your last picture in the sequence needs to be retitled(you have it titled as after SOA 9-10-99, that was way back in the 1900s, I probably only noticed because yesterday was my B-Day 9-10-00).

Re: Front Axle Is In. Pics and Thanks

Looks great!!

I just put some axle shims on my front end to get some caster back. The only thing I didnt like was that when I put the shim wedges in, I no longer have that spring bundle bolt/stud to catch the hole in the mount on the axle. I might have managed to catch an 1/16" if I was lucky, so its pretty important to watch the front end to make sure they dont shift around.
