qick question about TR upgrade

I am planning on doing the TR upgrade to our 84 CJ7 Laredo after the engine is finished be rebuilt. And I had a quick question. How do I get the factory tach to still work? The way it is set up now is there is a plastic cover that goes over the coil. If I change to the TFI setup I will be getting rid of the old coil so how do I keep the tach working?

Re: qick question about TR upgrade

All you change is the coil, and it's connector.
You don't change any of the vehicle's wiring, so your tach will still be wired just like stock.
See attached graphic for quickie wiring adaptor that requires no cutting of wires at all, and will allow you to go back to the canister coil in a pinch.

Here are the part numbers for the E-core (TFI Style) ignition coil.

Standard P/N S-539
NAPA P/N ICC-1
