old IH axle

Just wondering, any of you guys know anything about and or how this worked? my cousin has a old 1964 i think IH pickup 4x4 that has a cable controled lever beside the drivers seat that "locks" the rear end (rear wheels together) or so he says,i havent looked at it,is he right or would this be a T case lock of some kind, i do know it has a divorced T case in it,just trying to increase a bit of knowlege on old machines

i'd find out what rear it has, what size/splined axleshafts. the front is more than likely a closed knuckle design and i don't recomend. go check it out and if the rear is a full floating design then pull out a shaft and see what spline count and diameter it is. this will tell you if it is a worthy swap. you also should ceck the width of the axle because it will probably be too wide but it doesn't hurt to check and make sure.
