Ground anchor

Has anyone seen or heard of a commercially available ground anchor that can be hammered in the groud and used with a come-long or winch where there are no trees around. I thought I've seen a plow/shovel looking thing somewhere. ????

Re: Ground anchor

A while back there was a conversation about "deadmen". These are just long pieces of metal theat are hammered into the ground. I helped build a seawall the summer and we used about 15 6ft long pieces of #5 rebar to keep it from tipping forward. Those things are so sturdy its amazing.

Just get a good strong piece of steel, there was talk of using old axle shafts, and hammer it strait into the ground. Hook up your rope or whatever and pull away!
