Jeep Question

I was wondering if there was ever a jeep made that was full-time four-wheel drive like a subaru.

Re: Jeep Question

Yes, Jeep made full time 4wd vehicles using the Borg -Warner "Quadratrac" transfer case. While they are generally not well thought of for hard core off-roading, the Quadratrac vehicles perform quite well on milder trail rides and are great for driving on-road in poor weather conditions. The new version of this system is called Quadra-Drive and performs VERY well, I have seen them on medium difficulty trails (ie: Miller Jeep Trail) performing flawlessly. I doubt your going to see any of these full-time units on the hammers, but for the environment for which they are designed, they are great. MUCH better than any P.O.S. Subaru.

Re: Jeep Question

Yes, there are many models of Jeep vehicles that have "all wheel drive" or "full time 4wd". In addition to the ones UTAHJEEPER mentioned, there are the Select Trac Cherokee/Wagoneer XJs and all Grand Cherokee models, from 1993 on, have some type of "all wheel" or "full time 4 wheel" drive. Many of these also have a part time 4wd mode in the same transfer case.

The newest version of the Quadra Drive, fitted into the 1999-2000 Grand Cherokees is capable of sending power to any tire that has traction.
