95 YJ half doors on a 80 CJ7

I found some nice half doors for my CJ7, I just wish I could close them. Are there any kits out there to put the pin type closing latch on my old CJ, or do I just make me some. I like the idea of buying some rather than building some, if you knew me you would know why. I'm not the best fabricator. Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of choices:

1. Buy the reinforcement upright post and weld it into the tub, attacht the OEM post and fixture.

2. 4WD hardware has a door post kit for thier fiberglass tub that may work on the earlier OEM tub.

What is the reinforcement upright post and where do I get one? Sounds like something I need anyway(can always use a little reinforcement). Is this something that is on the newer Jeeps? Thanks LEVE

Look at the inside of the tub, just foward of the Wheelhouse, there is no reinforcement.... just solid tub wall and door opening lip. On the later CJ's a reinforcement post was installed. This post helps to keep the tub side from vibrating when the doors are shut.

It takes more force for these doors to clamp over the posts than the older doors to simply slide over the metal lip. Also the reinfocement post is used as an anchor point for the retractable seatbelt. If I remember right it's an OEM part only, and avaliable at the dealers for about $60.

Thanks Larry, I'll be off to the dealer and see if I can make them understand what I need, not always easy.
