source for hood welting for 67 CJ
I am planning on repainting my 67 CJ-5 in the near future. I was looking at things I will want to replace at the same time, and came across the "welting" that runs across the top of the grill that the hood sits on. I say "welting" cause I don't know what it is called, and the closest thing I've seen is a product called fender welting in the J.C. Whitney. It appears to be a heavy cotton sewn over two parallel(about 3/4" apart)heavy fiber cords. It is held to the upper edge of the grill with wire clips. Kinda like a gasket to keep the hood from having metal on metal contact with the grill. This is long winded, if you've got an older Jeep, you probably know what I'm talking about.
BTW, it's also on the braces that protect the top mounted windshield wipers, that support the windshield frame on the hood when it is folded down.
Anyone know where can I get a new piece of this stuff?
