Re: Labor Day weekend?

i'm not but i went to the one on memorial day. it sucked a big one! that is no exageration. it is nice being able to see all the other rigs but when there are between 4 and 5 hundred registered vehicles it gets crowded! the first day are trail ride lasted 16 hours! i had fun for all of about 15 minutes of the 16 hours. we got back to camp at 2:30am. it was raining and they let people on trails that they shouldn't have been on. it is just hard to get any trail riding done with 30 and 40 trucks in a group. just warning you.

Re: Labor Day weekend?

Yeah, I was there also. On the first day (saturday) we left out at 8:00am and got back around 8:00pm (we had 52 vehicles). It was fun for about 1 hour of that. I hope this weekend is better. I also hope I win a locker in the raffle this time. Chad

Re: Labor Day weekend?

Brian, I see you are a Marine. Where are you stationed? I was in the Army for 5 years. I am now in the Air Guard. In late September I will be going to a school at Lackland Disneyland AFB (San Antonio) for 10 weeks(vacation for my wife).

Re: Labor Day weekend?

Your description of the Memorial Day event sounds similar to the Memorial Day event that I went to for a few years--the "Memorial" Total Off-Road rally in Dresser, WI. It was featured in magazines a couple of times, and if I wanted to idle my Jeep that much I would drive thru downtown Chicago in rush hour. The last year I went, 1999, they "limited" the event to the first 1000 trucks! Granted, they have 3 trails, but the trails are pretty tight, and the full-size stuff has a lot of trouble. Some guys just don't belong on the trails either, if you know what I mean.

Sorry about venting, I saw your length of time on the trails and I feel your pain. I hope you manage to have a good time.

Ken

Re: Labor Day weekend?

I feel your pain! The last event was supposedly limited to 250 vehicles. But, I think it was more like 400. Every trail was bottlenecked. I thought I would give it another chance. If it doesnt go well, I wont be shelling any more money out for these events. Chad

I'll be there too. I've been there twice before. I've always had a good time. This is the first time at the Raccoon Campground. I always thought it was crowded, but I expected this and it's not really that big of a deal. They always say that the trail ride is limited to the first 250 people, but I find that hard to believe. Anyway... see y'all there!!

Re: Labor Day weekend?

We should all get together and talk shop. I think we are staying at the Days Inn on the same exit. I will be pulling my CJ (white with black bumpers and Tomkin tire combo, Ramsey platinum 9000) with a tan extended cab Z-71. Eric, I looked for you last time. I thought maybe you had been kidnapped by moonshiners. I still think we need a good way to identify others on the board. In2deep, Where are you staying? Chad
