above axle truss

will welding a truss on top of the axle significantly increase the strength? i want to beef up my 20 a bit, but don't
really want to lose the amount of clearance taken up by an under-axle truss. over axle truss connected to a skid
plate under the pumpkin for strength?

Re: above axle truss

I have a customer that had a tube brace made and welded to the top of the tubes, after bending his housing. So far so good. He didn't have it connected to the housing, which I think would be better. Your ides of connecting it to a skid plate (like a Con-ferr) sounds good to me. Just be sure your housing is straight to begin with!
