Question about cj axles

How much narrower is the narrow axle that pre-82 cj-7's had? I assume that it is pretty much identical to the wider axles except narrower. looking at possible swaps and trying to get all the info.

Re: Question about cj axles

think its about 4"... if you are considering them on an 83+ jeep.. dont.. you would be able to.. but you will run into problems trying to fit larger tires under your jeep.. other than that.. they are the same.. except for brakes.. hubs on the older moldels..

Re: Question about cj axles

i noticed in your profile that you have an 84 cj-7. this must mean that you want to pu the narrow track axles in yours. why? are your axles toast? jeepgod is right in that the narrow track axles make it harder to run larger tires. if you are swapping axles why not upgrade?
