Dana 44 high crossover steering options?

Looking for info, sites, and pictures. I found a good article John Nutter did for 4x4wire.com, and saw some pics linked off of the thread about the custom $55 swing out tire carrier (got to make one of those!) but that is about it so far...

I would rather build my own arms, so info geared more towards the "build it" rathern than the "buy it" method are preferred (but all info is welcome!)

Re: Dana 44 high crossover steering options?

I haven't noticed anything on the 'net about this mod yet.

Lars at bc4x4.com is going to have a article up on a "buy-it" solution. I know that's not what your looking for, but it may give you some ideas.

I don't know when it will be up, I think he said he was working on an axle swap for a TJ or something first.

In case you haven't seen it yet, he just posted a couple cool axle articles.

Re: Dana 44 high crossover steering options?

As a matter of fact at this moment I have a second browser window open checking out their articles about building a high pinion rear Dana 60 and a high pinion front Dana 44... Interesting stuff

BTW, for anyone else who is interested, here is the 4x4wire.com article: http://www.outdoorwire.com/4x4/jeep/tech/steer/SOA/

Re: Dana 44 high crossover steering options?

Found a few more links (sorry if this has been covered before, it is new to me...)

http://www.off-road.com/chevy/crossover/ - I was wanting to move the tie rod and drag link up top, but this still covers mounting of an arm.
http://www.tricountygear.com/prod02.htm It looks like they are using a J-truck tie rod and drag link here - I would rather have the drag link come off of the arm, not the tie rod.

Re: Dana 44 high crossover steering options?

H8monday had one in this forum about a month or so ago. It was homemade but had a list of the parts needed. He also posted pictures. It looked very sanitary.

Thanks, Ray
