OK, so I realize that this is the Jeep forum, but I've been lurking in here for awhile, lately following roll cage discussions and such. I was hoping to get some advice on a roll cage for my 78 Chevy truck. My question is regarding some roll cage kits that a company called Redline is manufacturing. Here's a link to the website with the cage kits in question - http://www.rlms.com/html/fullsizetruck.html
My primary question is - do these appear to be good quality cage kits, assuming they are properly assembled with quality welds and installed securely into the truck, i.e. attached to the frame and such?
Other questions, if the answer to the first was in the affirmative -
Which options should I get in addition to the main cage in order to get a good margin of safety, while still being able to get into the truck without needing to use a ladder to get over the door bars?
Is the Z-bar a good option for the doors, or are straight bars with spreaders better? Is the x option in the rear of the cage a good idea?
Primarily I'm looking for low speed rollover protection, as well as good mounting points for 5 point harnesses. Worst case would probably be rolling a couple of times down a dune at Pismo. Thanks for any help, I appreciate you guys taking the time to help out a guy who doesn't own a Jeep.
