A buddy of mine has a cj5 that needs a front drive shaft. I have a parts cj7. Will a driveshaft from a 7 fit a 5? Trying to help him out, need someone to wheel with....

Re: CJ5 vs. CJ7 Front Driveshaft

there are TONS of tranny, transfer combos that add into the variable, so an easy answer is non existant. Best thing to do is bust out the tape measure.

Re: CJ5 vs. CJ7 Front Driveshaft

I`ll have a stab at this one . IF the 2 CJ`s have the same drivetrains ( T-150`s , Dana 20`s , axles etc...) then the driveshaft SHOULD be the same . Just get a tape and you could probably get a rough idea just on that .

Re: CJ5 vs. CJ7 Front Driveshaft

to add to j-zilla's post, engine should be the same too.
one prob, depends on the year of the cj-5. early 5's were shorter in the front than the later ('75 and up). otherwise they should be close

Re: CJ5 vs. CJ7 Front Driveshaft

U believe his CJ5 is a 78 or 79, and has a 4 cyl engine. My 84 cj7 Has a 258.....probably won't work...will still try to measure...
