Transfer Case Leaking PLEASE HELP

Hey Guys,

when i went to CT to work on my rig this weekend i found a pretty un pleasant surprise. A good size puddle of gear oil underneath the transfer case (Dana20). It is coming out the back passenger side cover on the rear of the transfer case. I have heard this is a preload and very sensitive. Any thoughts on this? I wanna fix it soon
Thanks

Re: Transfer Case Leaking PLEASE HELP

I'd like to add a question to that. My Dana Tcase is oil coated. I haven't been able to really crawl under to check things out. There doesn't seem to be a puddle under it. But Should i be worried??Thanks...Kyle

My old Scout did that, and it turned out to be the steel shift rail cover was missing. I just got another, and tapped it in place in the viehicle. Took about 3 minutes.

Re: Transfer Case Leaking PLEASE HELP

Pop the cover and replace the gasket. Should be no problem. make sure you drop the oil level first or you may make a little more mess than need.
