Re: whip antenna

Your local Radio shack carries them, but they are off brand. If you want a good one, you can usually find good ones at those huge interstate truck stops. Make sure that you get it tuned for your radio. Those truckstops usually have someone that can do it for you or you can go back to radio shack.

Re: whip antenna

Try http://www.jcwhitney.com They might have something there If they don't, check out some of the local truck stops. Too bad you're so far away from me (Idaho), I'd give you the one that came on my CJ

Re: whip antenna

Just out of curiosity, why do you want one?

Re: whip antenna

i have used the radio shack version for years.. and love it.. and to help in your tuning.. if you are running that off the rear.. get yourself 18' of good coax cable to hook it up with.. that should be the right length for it.. if you run a spring under the whip..

you can really reach out with those.. and they are relatively cheap.. i would also attach something to the top corner of the windshield to tie it down when you are out wheeling..
to tune it you can get yourself a vswr meter for under 20 bucks.. and do it yourself.. well you will need someone to key it up..

Re: whip antenna

Just FYI
Some sanctioned events will not allow the use of whip antennas.

Re: whip antenna

Some clubs as well. Those things are dangerous when they get to whipping through the trees. Sometimes they become unlatched and can fly around as well.
