\'76 cj-5 Levi\'s Should I buy it?

There is a '76 Levi's CJ-5 for net auction in my area. The picture isn't real good but the owner says it has some rust. It's got a 258 W/ 43,000 Miles on it (not sure if spedo has rolled and has 143,000) it all ready has one bidder for $2,400. What should I expect to pay for this jeep. How rare are levi's it still has the blue jean interior.
Thanks,
Andy

Chances are the spedo has gone over. Most have by now. Early to mid 90's Wranglers are going over 100K at this time.

Rust is another thing. You will need to see what kind of rust. If it's just the body and not bad it may be OK. If it's the frame, you may have a problem.

Both the body and frame can be replaced, but it cost money ($2,500-3,500 each for new). You have to deal with the salt on the roads issue in the Midwest. We do not in my area. A 70's CJ around here goes for $3,500-5,000. More if it has a bunch of upgrades and is in great shape. The Levi thing has no value.

Hope that helps!

Kriss

The Levi's thing was just a reupholstered interior, and they came in the normal and Renegade versions.
