U-Bolt Reversal

I am planing on doing a U-Bolt reversal soon. I am ordering custom bent U-Bolts from National Spring. All I need is the plate that will go on top of the axle. I can make one but it seems my time is worth more writing software than slaving over a hot plasma cutter and welder. I remember a post (long time ago) that said what pickups had a plate that would fit the 2.5" tubes of the AMC20. Anyone out there with that good of a memory?....or that has done it?

Re: U-Bolt Reversal

Hey John,

Check out the Bolt Plates at: http://www.jeeptech.com/susp/ubolt.html. Terry Howe does an Excellent Write up of how to perform this swap on a CJ.

Good Luck

Re: U-Bolt Reversal

I also did a U-bolt reversal on my Jeep, I bought new U-bolts myself and then measured my axle diameters and then went to the junk yard looking a fullsize pickups with the same diameter axle tubes. i got the brackets that the U-bolts go through and also got these 2 1/2" x @4" plates that go under the springs between the U-bolts, they are deformed to take the stress off the tight bend around the corner. (i can't think of how to explain them exactly, just look a fullsize truck, they will have some).

you can see a picture of mine at http://www.geocities.com/yj3qtr_ton/dana60.html
