Leaking Exhaust on YJ

HI. replaced the cat on my '94 YJ and ok for 2 months. Then started leaking from front of cat connection. The clamp is virtually impossible to get at above the transfer case crossmember. I finally got it off and the cat pipe was not even dented. I used sealant before. There is not room to disassemble easily. I will replace the clamp and put nuts on top so I can access and get tight. Any suggestions prior to putting clamp on? Thanks

Re: Leaking Exhaust on YJ

This was something I learned from a leaky pipe above the cat. converter.
The meshed chemical structure got melted inside the cat. so gas didn't go freely to the muffler.
It escaped from the pipe seams prior entering the cat. and creating back pressure to the engine (lost of power).
Check the cat. closely.
Yes, it got pretty hot in there.
Also use as few pipe couplings as possible.
I welded my seams all around (but that's CJ)

Re: Leaking Exhaust on YJ

Be sure to use the factory type clamp and torque it to around 45 ft/lbs. Aftermarket clamps won't work.
