Converting to Power Brakes...

I am wondering what would be the easiest way to convert the manual brakes to the power brakes on my 82 CJ-8. I have the vaccum line coming off the block (swapped the motor), but do not have the booster. I was going to grab a booster from a 77 Impala, but I ran out of time before I moved. What is the easist way to do the conversion.

Thanks

Re: Converting to Power Brakes...

You'll need the master cylinder, booster, and 'bellcrank' bracket from another CJ. If you have the I-6, you'll also need the offset air cleaner housing. If you feel like making a couple of your own hard lines, you can use the master cylinder & booster from a YJ. If you go the CJ route, I recommend that you get an adjustable brake rod from Tri-County and modify the bellcrank assembly (they'll put the instructions in the box with the rod). The stock CJ power brakes are pretty lousy and don't stop any better than the manual brakes IMHO, but the bellcrank mod makes the swap worthwhile.
