CJ-2A Hubs

The front locking hubs on my Willys each have 2 levers that you pull out, rotate and push back in to engage/disengage the hubs. They work fine, I'm just curious whether they're the original or not. Or did they even come with any lockouts originally?

Re: CJ-2A Hubs

I have a similar(same) hub on a rolling frame that is cluttering my back yard. The frame is probably from a 53 willys wagon. I believe the locking hub were optional on some 3a and later jeeps, but I don't know for sure on the 2a's. I'll check a couple of resources tonight and let you know.

Re: CJ-2A Hubs

ALL of the 'lock-in, and lock-out' type of hubs were aftermarket, from WWII, up through at least the early 1970's. ALL early Jeeps, either military, CJ, wagons, or pickups, came from the factory with a 'flange', that was definitely 'locked', all the time. Those 'dual-lever' hubs you describe, are Dual-o-matics, just one of numerous hubs available at the time. They originally had a Dual-o-matic label, or sometimes a Sears label, as they were also sold by Sears. All of these hubs were installed, either by the dealer, or by the owner.
BTW, I might be interested in the 53 wagon frame...
