Major Malfunction

Hello,My Jeep Wrangler is having a MAJOR problem... Driving from Boston to my home I had a vibration problem at first I thought it was the street. Since I have a lift 3.5 and 33x12.5 Mud terrrains I figured that it was the lousey pavement. Then I started loosing power. So I have checked all the vital fluids Tranny rear axle and finally the t-case. I found little or no tranny fluid it the T-Case. Is the T-case hosed?? I filled it up and I still have the vibration at 35-40 mph and a dragging sensation, and some noise... If its hosed how muchs does one of those NP-231's cost used.? Any help would be appreciated. BTW Any body know a good mechanic in the Boston Metro area ?
Thanks!
Jim C

Re: Major Malfunction

Based on the information you provided...Yes, your trasfer case is 'hosed'. What I am wondering is how it got so low on oil? Did you have a leak? If not, who was the last person to work on it?

I'm sorry if I can't give you an answer on the NP-231...I have the good ole Dana 300. Good luck....and make sure you get at least 2-3 quotes.....you know what?....this might be a good time to consider going to an automatic like the GM 700.
