Help! x-fer won\'t go into 4hi or Lo

I have a 71 CJ 5 I recently lifted 4". I lowered the tranfer case for pinion angles and drove it around the block but I never tried to shift into 4wd. Tomorrow I'm going out in the Jeep and when I tried to shift into 4wd, it won't shift. Little time for investigating, anyone run into this problem? I appreciate any input.

Take the boot off the xfercase lever, try shifting and see if the lever is interferring with the body. Dropping the xfercase down sometimes
causes this. Good luck.

The levers are probably hitting the body due to the lowering kit

This happened to my 74 when we lowered the transfer (20 right?)
Cut and weld the shifter so it works if it is hitting the floor or seat riser.
