I checked this with my moonguyaxle crew chief, and he says that what you are experiencing is completely normal. He says to remind you that the u-joints on those axles are NOT constant velocity, and when power is transmitted with angle on the u-joint, they are....gee....NON constant velocity.....which means that they transmit power slow-fast-slow-fast-slow-fast....well, you get the idea.THAT is what you are experiencing. THE OTHER thing you will notice is TORQUE STEER. That is when you accelerate hard and the long axle lags behind due to the difference in the amount of "wind up" that the axle has compared to the short side. Hey...is this one sharp moonguy or what? His advice to you is to "take it easy" so you don't end up driving over the center line

And don't take any really sharp corners unless you want to be replacing u-joints. Driving it like that creates a lot of stress on the front end components, the wider the turn you can make the better off you'll be.

Re: running front drive shaft only

yeah, what they said.

I drove on the front driveshaft for about 4 months, and did not have any problems. No sharp turns, no hard acceleration. Pay attention and you'll be fine.

Re: running front drive shaft only

I did the same for a while also. I rung my AMC 20 axle, and while I was waiting for my Superior one piece I drove around on the front for a while. It is a trip...When I stabbed the pedal I got the front wheels to spinnin' and turned all kinds of heads. It was fun for a while, then I remembered that it was going to cost me down the road , so I quit the spinnin'. You get the drift...seeya...
