Question HELP!! My jeep problem is driving me crazy!

I have an 83 cj7 4.2l with the Howell tbi system, also have GM style distributor DUI from Performance distributors.

A few weeks ago after my jeep got good and warmed up it started to have a major stumble as you started from a stopped. Then as you would accelerate say to merge into traffic and accelerate to would kinda hick up, or buck. The longer you drive it the worst it gets, yesterday almost did me in. After fighting it while running around town it was pretty hot. It got to one point that it just started to slow down like it was been strangled. Started skipping then just died. I let sit for a few mins then it cranked back up. Went about 50 feet dead again. This is with the engine being about as hot as has been for a while after about 40 miles out temp was only 70.. Let it sit for about 3 hours drove 10 miles home, not a single skip, to buck. Then later road another 15 miles or so and the process started all over again.
I NEED HELP, None of the locals know anything about this set up.
I have:
Changed, Plugs, wires, Ignition module, Coil, cap rotor, put heavy springs on the mechanical advance. I disconnected the Vacuum advance, replaced the TPS, MAP sensors, Check the gas, and replaced vacuum hoses.

Iím now at the point that Iím wondering if my cat is stopped up?
No one else thinks it is. I do know that some small pieces of collector gaskets have dropped inside and have blown down the pipe.
Mine is a performance cat, looks like a snake that just swallowed a rat. So itís pretty small, to is welded right into the muffler.
I NEED HELP

Start it up at night and see if the cat converter, down pipe and the exhaust manifold are glowing red after it's fun a few minutes. If so, the converter is plugged.

That's where I'd start.

Yes, it is possible. Have you checked the fuel pressure? That pump wouldn't be expensive to replace.

Remove the pump, and cycle a can of SeaFoam though the pump from the can into a jar, then from the jar back to the pump. Then do it a couple of more times. See what happens

Well it wasn't red.. So i'll try the fuel pump test..
It has always reflected about 12 psi.
I need to run it tody until it starts stumbling and bucking, then i'll check the psi again. Then the next step will be to remove and check the pump.
thx,
