Carburetor status

After studying what it would take to turn my 1-barrel manifold into a two-barrel I decided that wasn't a feasible project, so I want to get the Carter YF fixed up and running right. It seems to be a little rich now, and my fear is that when I get it to Colorado it will be WAY rich.

I found the Jeep and Carter numbers for high-altitude metering rod and jet, and got what is apparently the last metering rod in a Jeep parts department anywhere in the U.S. of A. from a dealer in Junction City, Colorado. The jet doesn't show in any dealer parts department at all. But I found a shop in South St. Louis that has a HUGE stock of new and used parts for carburetors (I almost said old carburetors, but that's redundant). He had the jet I need, and now I have it.

For the record, the high-altitude jet is Carter 120-398, Jeep J4488464. The metering rod is Carter 75-2175, Jeep J8127799.

And the shop that had the jet, and drawer after drawer of metering rods, jets, floats, choke parts and more and more, is:

Your electric Jeep is a good start. But you need to get a fuel injected model with coil springs. I mean, really, who wants a one barrel narrow track and I wont even get into the stainless steel stuff. How much would you want for that old CJ? Maybe I can help you out.

Would you be willing to pay three grand? It's old, you know. Just had its thirty fourth birthday a few weeks ago.

I'd be willing to pay 3G's for it.. after all I know the mechanic and it's the only CJ I know that I could buy and drive it home knowing it would complete the 2000 mile trip.

YES!!! Heck, it's half my age, I could handle it easier than I could a chick half my age.
