has anybody made a radiator screen?

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on making a grill screen, I keep getting bugs and other crap in between the grill and the radiator. I was thinking about picking up some metal storm door screen at home depot and attaching it some how to the back of the grill. any other ideas...

haven't you ever seen the stainless steel grill covers for that?? they aren't over priced.... i made one from expanded metal one time though.... until a tow hook went through it...

Re: has anybody made a radiator screen?

I've used metal window screening for that purpose in the past with good luck. There's a million ways to fasten it down, stretch it or whatever to hold it in place behind the grille.

Re: has anybody made a radiator screen?

i put metal window screen material one the inside of the grill...so it was between the grill and the radiator....so you can still see your sexy jeep trademark grill and not get bugs and rocks

Re: has anybody made a radiator screen?

Quadratec carries one I think made by Kayline or another top manuf. It's nylon screening that snaps to grill. Can be washed. Also a winter flap is made to make engine put out more heat.

Re: has anybody made a radiator screen?

I made mine out of a heavy screen and (streched?) it behind the grille. Like the above post stated...I like to see the "jeep" grille bars.
