T-18 Question

I've come across a used T-18 but it was original CJ equipment. That means no Granny first gear Right? If that is correct how hard would it be to rebuild into a T-18a (with granny first)? Thanks for the help.

Can you fix it?
I got a welder and a grinder. Heck yeah I can fix it.

Re: T-18 Question

The T18 I bought was out of a 77 cj7 and it has granny 1st. Most of the ones I've found have the granny. If it's out of the vehichle it's easy enough to check. Hope I helped a little.

Re: T-18 Question

The T18a was offered in the late 70's CJ's. The "a" signifies the 6.32 low.

Re: T-18 Question

I was thumbing thru my FWD Hardware catalogue. The casting numbers for the Borg Warner T18 should be 13-01-065-9xx
Hope this helps

Re: T-18 Question

CJ T18's from 76 to 79 have the granny low first gear. All of them had the short input shaft which is something like 6.5 inches long (I'm only talking about CJ's). Prior to those years they had the 9.something inch long input and the 4.03 first gear.
