somewhat O/T: Shipping question

I can't seem to find a used tub in my state. The ones I have found are many miles away. Anybody ever ship one, and if so, how much did it run you, and how do I go about setting that up? I don't even know where to start with something like that. The tub I'm looking at is on ebay and the auction ends tomorrow (Wednesday) around 7:40pm. The tub is in New York and I'm in South Carolina. Not gonna bid if shipping is going to be more than $200. Driving there to pick it up would cost way more than that I think due to the mileage (15 hours each way).

Any info is greatly appreciated, even if it's later than auction end. I can always apply it to the next one I get a shot at! :smirk:

Thanks a bunch guys!

It only cost about $500 to get a whole body shipped from Manila to St. Louis, but it cost $75 to have it brought 30 miles from St. Louis. Best thing to do is get a couple of quotes from moving companies and shipping companies. A tub only weighs 150 pounds or so, but it might have to be crated.

But I wouldn't buy a used tub from New York sight unseen. They use a lot of salt on the roads.

If you haven't registered on NC4x4, I'll invite you to do so soon! There are hundreds of folks peddling various 4x4 parts there, with many SC folks online. This increases the number of LOCAL eyeballs looking for your parts and should help you find a tub alot closer the NY! IMHO, there's nothing gonna come out of NY that doesn't have a larger/worse rust issues than what you have already!

BTW, what exactly are you looking for? A YJ tub (factory galvanic coated!) to replace your CJ tub?

Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for (YJ tub to replace my old CJ tub). I've also posted it here in the sticky wanted section. Not having much luck so far.

Thanks for the help guys.
