16 in CJ compatable rims ?

Are there any junkyard 16in rims with 5x 5.5 suitacle for CJ's. Early '90s Dodge and Ford half tons spring to mind, what about backspace , etc ?

Other than Ford or Dodge I don't know but you need to watch out for the center hole as well. If the center hole isn't big enough, it wont fit over the front hubs....

I don't know any offhand, but it seems to me 16" tires cost more than 15s.

Yeah, I'm sure they are more pricey. Plus they must have less ability to conform to obstacles than a tire with the same rolling radius on a smaller wheel. Probably good for a bragging contest at the mall, though.

I already have my "good" 15in rims. Was intending to get a second set of mounted tires anyway. With almost all half ton p/u's gone to 16s for 15 plus yrs, 16in tires are competive price w/ 15s. 16s offer some ht/ width combos not common w/ 15s. I make a point to avoid all malls.

Good man!

I didn't realize that 16s had gotten that popular. Thanks!

I have a good excuse to look for 16" 5 on 5.5 wheels.
This weekend I bought a set of nice 16" wheels for my tow rig and they had decent 37" radials on them. If I could find a cheap set of wheels, I'd run them as street tires vice the unbalanced swampers on beadlocks.

It's not what you have. It's what you do with what you have
