if sailcloth.....

....is the best thing since sliced bread, why doesn't bestop offer it as an option with the supertop???

Could the 88-up wrangler sailcloth RAT fit an 85 CJ if I got the YJ replacement hardware from rugged ridge or the junkyard? would I need an '88 up windshield channel? would that fit my CJ anyway?

Thanks,
DJ

I've put several YJ tops on CJ's. Everything fits fine- remember, most soft top YJ's had square cornered soft door uppers-

Oops I meant windshield frame. Doesn't the YJ have some sort of tab on it for the door frame to mount to the windshield frame? (This is judging from an installation picture I saw somewhere, never seen one up close) Or is that the TJ?

Here's a secret -

Buy a 97-02 TJ SuperTop in color code -35 or -15 and it will be a sailcloth top....

It's not something they advertise, but I got it straight from BesTop.

i used to run a yj top on my cj... like stated above.. most yj's had the squared off doors.. were cj's were more rounded.. get a top to fit the cj style upper doors.. and you will be good.. there is a tab on yj tops that bolt to where the roll bar bolts to the windshield.. but you can drill those holes in a cj windshield frame...

I have never had a sailcloth top, but a friend with a YJ bought one and hates it. He says it is too bulky when folded down and fits so tight that it is ripping the windshield channel off! He doesn't think it is that much quieter and wishes he just bought a regular Replace a Top.

Wouldn't an adjustable spreader bar allow him to loosen it up a bit?
