"Rejuvination" project

Okay, I know I haven't been on here much in say the last... ummm... 6 years... but.. I thought I'd put up a post of what is up with my jeep. We did a frame up on it in 1999-2000 & did a soa/fuelinjection/axle swap on it in 2001-2002. Well.. the jeep has served me well & has been all around the country wheelin', but the old frame & engine just have gotten toooooo wore out.

So.. here is what we are going to do with it:
On the slate is:
- Replace the frame with a new Advanced Frameworks Frame (well, not totally new, but never used)
- Replace the engine with a 304 that has 401 heads. This is Ellusives old engine, that I bought from JR almost 6 years ago, he had bought it from Elusive... Elusive had it bored .40 over, edelbrock intake, blah, blah, blah.. going to put the Howell injection that was on my 258 onto the V8 (already talked to Howell about what we need)
- Replace the 999 3-speed Auto with a AW4 auto & get the shifting upgrade from awshifting. Also, change back to a column mounted shifter (some custom parts... with a little help from some friends)
- Upgrade the suspension to all YJ width springs... which springs are still undecided. We know our options, just havent settled yet, prolly RE1444/1445
- Change the steering from Heims to TRE's & hydroassist steering
- Paint & install new fenders
- Improved roll cage that has seats tied into it
- York OBA (the engine came with the setup already on it)

The jeep had on it (that we are reusing)
- Fiberglass tub
- SOA D44 front with 4.56 gears, ARB, ally shafts & yukon u-joints
- SOA Waggy 20 rear with 4.56 gears, Detroit, alloy shafts
- D300 with 4:1
- 36" Iroks with eaton 32 bolt beadlocks

So far we have completed the "dissaembly" phase... the frame is now sitting outside with the other piles of junk.

Anyways.. here are some pictures:

From just before the dissembly started:

The engine before paint:

The engine after paint:

A couple of examples of why we are replacing the frame

Yep. That frame is nasty!

So how long is this going to take? Now that Jeepgod's creation is running we have to know when to start ragging you with the blah! blah! blah!

EVERYTHING's easy for the guy who doesn't have to do it.

welllllll.... my *goal* is to have it done by July 4th... we'll see. Really shouldn't be too bad of a project since the majority of it is just bolting everything back up. The biggest amount of work probably is going to be in the cage. I bought my husband a pro-tools bender for christmas (in 2006..lol), and he hasn't used it yet... so, there will be some trial & error with that. I want to build it so it is more fun to drive on the street & is the same capability on the trail + a good looking jeep.

Out of all the AMC V8s I've heard, Elusive's old mill was definitely the best sounding ever! I recall it's last trip climbing up Schoolbus, Swampers clawing... Chris laying into the engine when needed... sounded so good I sprouted right there!

I'd always wondered who ended up with it... congrats!

Yea, I'm pretty pysched for the engine... my old 258 was pretty tired... looking forward to being able to get out into traffic.... and having the wheel spin on the trail when I need it.

I ordered the RE SOA springs today.
