I'll be there. But don't worry, you might still have a chance. They aren't planning to take it for at least 4 more years...

Sheese....the way it's going right now, you'll be wheeling again before me...

"And then I said, 'Just like that, but with more gas!' Oops..."

ODD - I live right down the road from the Hammer Trails - in Landers - about 10 -12 miles away. And I've played on them many times, as well as the surrounding area. I can drive from my place to them without ever touching pavement.
I even have 2 gold claims in the area mentioned.

This is news to me - there has been NOTHING in the local papers about it.

I just got home from a local Jeep club meeting a few minutes ago - HighDesert4x4 - Yucca Valley. We had about 30 people there - mostly locals, and a few Marines from the base at Twentynine Palms.
There was NO mention of it being taken over by the base or anyone else. And we talked about the Hammers quite a bit.

Question - is this a scam put on by the Pirates? We all know an awful lot of what's on there is totally untrue.

Or is it a rumor started by the Sierra Club to make off roaders look like fools? They've done that in the past.

Can someone provide a link to something with some credibility?

If it's true, us locals can start trouble for them from here.

A bit more on it -

There's been quite a bit of talk about making the base a bit smaller, not larger. I believe it's the largest military base we have. It's huge! Look at a map. Most of it is unused, especially the West side where the annex is supposed to be.

And - they've also been talking about opening up a gate on the West side so the people can get to Landers, Flamingo Heights, and Yucca Valley easier. If they do that, I'll end up with that traffic going by my house - not good.

But that will help with the off-base living - rentals are scarce by the base's present gate.

I won't like the extra traffic - I moved here because there is very little traffic now.

But then, it will probably cause all my properties here to at least triple in value - again!

I'll do some checking tomorrow.
