Deer 0 Jeep 1 1/2

I decided I couldn't afford to drive the Ford to work anymore so I got my Jeep out and fixed the lights today and decided to drive it to work. All went fairly well needs an alignment but well. Coming home tonight I hit a small herd of deer. There were at least 4 2 turned and ran right into my jeep. Now my Jeep is a bit trying to drive without any problems but running over a deer while hitting another just about makes controling the jeep an after thought. I get it to the side and turned around. Went back and to drag the kicking deer out of the roadway. Although I saw second one spin and go down she was gone when I got back, blood all over, but one. The second was laying in the middle of the road. Long story short 1 fender obliterated and of wll things while I was waiting for the SD to arrive, my clutch throw out bearing started making death whines.

Bent the tie rod and I have serious tow in now.

I am trying to decide weather to turn it into inshurance or not.

Ya only go around once, best to enjoy it the first trip.

Bummer, Jeff! Why would you not turn it in to your insurance company? That's what insurance is for.

EVERYTHING's easy for the guy who doesn't have to do it.

Dang bad way to start a week... glad you're ok and the Jeep's fixable. Good luck with the repairs. It is ever fun to hit deer, for them, or for us.

Welldaylight showed more damage. Tub had a good dent below the drivers door on the rocker and my purdy hard door is now a purdy hard door with a deer sized dent in it. None of this is a big deal. I had been kinds proud of the jeep being in decent shape for all the wheeling we had done with it.

I would definately call the insurance on that one.....if you think it will cover it that is, not sure what kind of coverage you have.

Did you keep the deer? at least you can feel better knowing you are eating the lil that screwed up the jeep

Probably lots of bruised meat on them though. At least that is what I was told of the 2 my CJ has hit.

Well Ins won't pay and it is my fault. I had lowered the coverage on it when it was regulated to trail duty with an occasional trip to the parts store. It was changed to liabilty only. I thought we still had comprehensive animal colision but at some point 2 years ago that was reduced as well. I don't remember doing it but I don't think they did it without me knowing. Regardless I will be fixing it.

I need a tj tie rod cause this one is no longer adjustable.

That will get it moving down the road without mass vibration. I likely won't fix the rest, just tube the fenders and accept the dented door and rocker.

Ya only go around once, best to enjoy it the first trip.
