sort of OT...u-joints

Hi

Not for a Jeep...

Got a friend with a full size bronco...got a 460 in it and 38" tires...

He keeps breaking u-joints on his front dana 50 independent suspension front...usually happens when he gets the wheels hopping on turns...

so far he's just been using the cheap $15 spicer u-joints.

Anyone have any recommendations for u-joints that might hold up a bit better but not too strong that other, more expensive, harder to replace parts are breaking...he thought he found some that are still needle bearing style but have a grease zirk in each cap so it's solid throughout vs. one grease zirk and hollow

And he'd rather not spend $200+ for super heavy duty u-joints that have the brass collar instead of needle bearings...

He likes the IS front and though he's frustrated with leaving the trails early...he'd rather not give up on it yet...

Thanks!
Patrick

The locals here still running Ferd IFS do 2 things:

#1 - pull the C-clips in advance, so they can swap shafts out on the trail
#2 - Lay in a healthy supply of shafts before every trip, cause it's a given they're gonna trash a set or 2...

This young lady was one of the last hold outs for IFS... her husband just swapped in a D60 for her!
