Drums for 1980 Scout Dana 44

Anyone know if drums from any other source fit a 1980 IH Scout's Dana44? The guy that bought my CJ needs new drums and the local parts store wants $115.00 each for them. Wondering if anything else fits. Sorry I can't tell you what their diameter is.

Thanks,
Tim

Is that $119 U.S. or Canadian? If it's U.S., no worries - it's not like it's real money.

EVERYTHING's easy for the guy who doesn't have to do it.

Try a different parts store or disc it. Also ask him which account he got that price on, you should never pay full price for auto parts, have a buddy that's a mechanic or works for a municipality buy them on their account.

They are 11" I have found out. He can't go to disks because this is needed to pass a safety inspection (e brake) and I wouldn't encourage doing anything that might stand in the way of him getting it licenced. I guess he'll just have to bite the bullet and buy some at the best price he can find in town.

I have that same axle sitting on my garage floor with no drums waiting to be built. After looking at it carefully, I'm failry certain that Ford 11" brakes will bolt right onto the housing. So, I'm gonna go to the junkyard and get some off and old F-150 with a 9". I'll let you know how that works out.

"And then I said, 'Just like that, but with more gas!' Oops..."
