Date for Badlands Bash 2008

We're (Hi-Lift) trying to lock in dates for events for the 2nd quarter of 2008. The only weekend that we cannot do the Bash is the weekend of May 8-10 because of other obligations. I was looking at the traditional weekend before Memorial Day, which would make it the 15th thru 17th. But we are flexible on other options. I'd like to commit to a date as soon as possible now so we can get our schedule set, order event shirts, etc. Any thoughts? Recommendations?

It's a great time, and you can spend a little more time and take in the race if you've got the time/money!

May 15 - 17 would work out well. It's the weekend after Mother's Day and the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. And it gives me plenty of time to diagnose and fix my death wobble problem!

Sure, Tim! Even Nebraskans are welcome!

You know the date now, and the location is The Badlands Offroad Park in Attica, Indiana. It's just off Interstate 74 at the Illinois border.

It's an annual thing we've been doing for about six years now. Usually about 40 Jeeps and twice that many people get together to play at the park and blow the winter stink off. A few get there Thursday and a lot are there by Friday.

There's a little wrenching, a tiny amount of imbibing of adult beverages, and a whole lot of BS-ing. Saturday night there's a big potluck dinner under a tent, a huge raffle drawing, and usually some awards given out, like The Best Stuck, The Best Body Damage, The Nancy-Pants Driver, and Bozo of the Weekend. Then Sunday some go back and play some more while others head home.

People come from all over the country - East Coast, Arkansas, Minnesota . . . Last year Jeep Dawg came all the way from Southern California, and a few years ago LEVE came from eastern Washington. Those guys wussed out and flew in for the occasion, but they were here.

So, yeah, you and JDog and any other of your flatland buddies ought to try to make the trek. It's a lot of fun, great fellowship and a chance to put faces and rigs with the names you've been seeing on the board. And for you guys a chance do do some wheeling with more than five feet of elevation change. It's not an exclusive Jeep affair, although they're in the majority. There have been full-size pickups, Scouts, Broncos, a Suzuki, small pickups, and Andy's buggy, whatever it is.

EVERYTHING's easy for the guy who doesn't have to do it.
