Pinion and side bearing puller

I am looking at buying a Pinion and side bearing puller. I know most use a press and a bearing seperator. While I am not opposed to ths every one I have done I messed up the bearing getting it off. I saw a fella use one of the clamshell pullers and it appeared to work really slick.

I was wondering what you guys think of them. I was going to also get a t&D pinion guage until Pontiac shammed me out of it.

Ya only go around once, best to enjoy it the first trip.

I have a large one and I like it, I also have a 20 ton upright press to use with it. If you buy one get a quality one.

I really like the clamshell type.

I've got a friend that does gears on the side and he has one.

I've only seen one bearing get "torn up". That was when someone else was using it and didn't set it up quite right.
