Said goodbye to my Jeep

That about says it all. Sold my 84 CJ7. A new enthusiastic jeeper is thus born. I gave him all my spare parts, manuals, even some of the specialty tools that are needed to service the ball joints and wheel bearings. He will need to do some work and get the jeep to pass a safety. My wife said I should take a picture of myself with the jeep. I had to hold back a tear at that thought. Long story made short, my daughter wrote off my car this fall, luckily no one injured. We needed another vehicle that anyone could drive and the jeep just didn't meet those requirements with good conscience. I'd been driving the jeep in the meantime. Another 4x4 that is a little safer on the highway and has an automatic transmission will do the family more good than something only I can drive. So that's it, for now.

What Caver said. That's a real bummer!

EVERYTHING's easy for the guy who doesn't have to do it.

Actually, I aplaud the sale. Jeeps are things, and people are more important than things. Doing what is right for your family is the best decision you can make... any time... anywhere. Good on you Tim! Keep in touch!

I'm as bad as the next guy for holding onto stuff, and having sentimental value in old vehicles, but alas, life moves on. Think of it as a freash start. I never thought I'd sell the 79 F250 for something newer, but the new Suburban is a groovy tow vehicle. And I never thought I'd have a roundy-roundy-spring Jeep, but I have to say it's pretty cool for a daily driver.

And your daughter didn't get hurt - keep perspective.

Good luck man,
Pete

88YJ: Old, noisy, slow, and just generally wonderful. Wheeling Jeep.
04WJ: Less old, less noisy, less slow, daily driver Jeep.

This is funny, someone apparently put the word M*Y (without the asterick) on the bad word list by mistake, because m*y last response on protect your house thread has the same problem, man, m*y is favorite word

Sorry bout your jeep, something else will come along

Seeing as this is the most interesting place on the internet, I'll keep in touch. I've gotten most of my best and craziest ideas from this board, from diy fuel injection to home made welders.

Tim, you ARE going to still hang out with us, Aren't you?
You are a Jeeper at heart, and a valued member of this board, and it would be a darn shame to loose you and your collected knowledge just because you don't have physical possession of a Jeep right now...

(...I sees a SWB in your future!...)

Anyway, if you still want to waste time with the rest of us, you will always be welcome in my book!

This is what I (and pretty sure Jim) was eluding to... just without your eloquence Larry.
