differences???

Is there any difference in the 88 and 95 starters? I know the tj starters bolt form the bottom but just wondering if there is any differences in the starters for the yj in different years.

A 95 is going to be a 4.0 motor....

For the most part, the 4.2 and 4.0 are the same block.

I don't know about the AMC's but when I was working for the local parts store I found out there were seven different types of starters for the older model GM V8's and thought they were all the same before that. If you are using a later model starter then you may have found your starter problem.... After finding that out and doing motor swaps for people, I made sure I used the right flex plate and starter combo's and never had to shim one again....
