In early returns, five yes, zero no. I think this is going to be a popular idea.

Instead of making this sticky, I'll just let new posts keep it up on top for a while. When activity drops off we'll consider voting over. OK?

There needs to be a distinction made between "Hi-Lift's 2008 Badlands Bash" and "2008 SWB-BBS Badlands Bash Sponsored by Hi-Lift" The first means that it is no longer a SWB event, it is a Hi-Lift event. The latter means that it is still "owned" by the SWB-BBS but Hi-lift is putting a bunch of money towards it (and gets their name all over the t-shirt). With one, Hi-Lift can advertise it all over the place as a "Hi-Lift event" the other, not so much.

I'm all for Hi-Lift "sponsoring" the 2008 SWB-BBS Badlands Bash.

A bad weekend of wheelin', is still a good weekend.

You can have as many 'Sponsors' as you want and still be 'Informal'.
I say 'Bash Away!'

Not intending for this to sound bad, But Highlift has been THE sponsor of the bash since day one. Ausin and the company have always stepped up with contributions. Not to say there have not been other contributors along the way, but High-Lift has been with us from the get go and I think this extension of their good will should not be ignored or discounted. No one person owns the bash, now that may change but as of now it belongs to everyone here.

Regardless of how this works out I hope that they would remain a contributor even if it just means they show up.

I say the more the merrier!!

Ya only go around once, best to enjoy it the first trip.

I like the idea of Hi-Lift sponsorship. It lends a more credibility to the event. I hope it's sponsorship would also help draw more Jeepers to attend. The more people that attend, the more tales are swapped, rigs viewed, ideas gleaned, new friendships made, and old friendships solidified.

If done right, it could become a prime Jeep - SWB - Off Road - event in the Midwest, and perhaps even the nation. Come one, come all, bring your rig your food, your appetite and have a bash. I don't see a downside.

Contrary to what you might think from my previous post, I don't see a downside either - at least a downside that's likely to occur.

I have been there three years in a row now. The bash kicks butt. I thought last year was going to be lame, but it turned out to be a blast. I thought i was going to skip this year, but it sounds like i am planning on coming again. I actually missed the tshirts and such. So it would be nice to have that back. Highlift from what i have seen has been great to all of us.

After seeing what they have done so far for us, i cant imagine what they could do for the bash.

As for it not being just the board members, i bet more the half last year were not board members. Even if 200 rigs showed up, i would still find the people i wanted to see.

What????

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm an employee of Hi-Lift, and will be loyal to the company and my friends who own, manage, and work there. But I have been a member of this board for a few years now and wouldn't intentionally do anything to hurt the Bash and what it has meant to me and other board members. My thought was that we could use a shot in the arm to generate better attendance and better recognition of what we've become--friends. If lending Hi-Lift's name to the event, providing tee shirts, a meal, and our connections with some of our customers and other avid Jeepers would make the event better then I'm all for it. If it isn't what we want, either as a company or the SWB BBS, we're not looking for a long-term contract. I'd like to try it, and if it works, try to continue it until it no longer works. I've been contacting off-road groups across the midwest, east, and south asking how Hi-Lift can help their clubs. I just have a more personal interest in this particular group. That's all.
